Chicago has also been linked to Jim Harbaugh
Matt Eberflus remains the Bears head coach even after his head coaching career began with a rough start. They are already exploring potential head coaching options, including Commanders offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy.
The Bears are expected to have interest in Bieniemy as a possible head coach candidate this offseason, according to CBS Sports senior NFL insider Josina Anderson. Eberflus is under evaluation after a 4-8 record through 12 games in the current year.
Bieniemy is in his first season as Washington's offensive coordinator and play caller after five years as the Chiefs offensive coordinator under head coach Andy Ried. He's been linked as a head coaching candidate but hasn't had the opportunity after a few years of interviewing as a candidate. His current team is another team to watch for Bieniemy since Commanders head coach Ron Rivera's job is at risk.
Bieniemy is also linked with current Bears general manager Ryan Poles, who spent 13 years with the Chiefs before arriving in Chicago. Poles might want to look for a head coach with an offensive background since Matt Eberflus, a defensive-minded coach, has a 7-22 record since the start of his tenure as the Bears head coach in 2022.
Rumors linked to the Bears also mention Michigan's head coach, Jim Harbaugh. He has shown interest in returning to the league, interviewing with at least two teams since 2022. Harbaugh also has ties to the Bears organization, playing quarterback from 1987-1993.
He deserves a head coaching gig and will get one soon
